KILIC Seafood and Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University executed a protocol on university-industry collaboration. KILIC Seafood President Orhan KILIC and Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University President Prof. Hüseyin Çiçek signed an agreement which is intended to create KILIC sponsored modules and internship opportunities for students.

Having uttered a speech in the signing ceremony, KILIC Seafood President Orhan KILIC expressed his satisfaction with forming a partnership with Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University. Mr KILIC noted that KILIC is a leading full-integrated company in the industry from fish fry production to fishmeal plants, packing and processing plant, logistics and export in Turkey and that the company boasts of 70 thousand tons of production volume which makes it one of the largest full-integrated plants in aquaculture industry. Having underlined that the company is the leading fish producer with exports to almost 70 countries, Mr KILIC said “KILIC Seafood has always outrun its Turkish and European competitors in terms of technology in aquaculture and pioneered the industry in terms of offshore fishery, R&D, quality processes and eco-sensitivity by acting as a leader in development of aquaculture in Turkey.”

KILIC: “Academy – sector collaboration is important”

Mr KILIC underlined the importance of research and development activities (R&D) and innovation processes. “We all know that growth is a critical component of productivity and competitive advantage in the entire world. It is important to ensure that knowledge acquired in universities is put to use in all economic activities. I believe this process will be accelerated and systematized thanks to university – industry collaboration,” he said.

Mr KILIC took attention to the contribution of this collaboration to development of students and said, “Under this protocol between KILIC and Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University, ‘KILIC Seafood Preventive Veterinarian Practices in Fish Diseases’, ‘KILIC Seafood Vaccination and Vaccine Technologies in Fish Diseases’, ‘KILIC Seafood Innovation Processes and Management in Aquaculture’, ‘KILIC Seafood R&D and P&D Technology in Aquaculture’ modules will be created and students will be provided with internship opportunities.”
