Kılıç Seafood – MSKU Collaboration
A protocol regarding university–industry cooperation was signed between Kılıç Seafood Products and Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University. The agreement, which will create Kılıç Seafood–branded courses and internship opportunities for students, was signed by Kılıç Holding Chairman of the Board Orhan Kılıç and Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Rector Prof. Hüseyin Çiçek.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Kılıç Holding Chairman of the Board Orhan Kılıç expressed his satisfaction with cooperating with Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University. Stating that Kılıç Seafood is the leading fully integrated company in its sector in Türkiye, from juvenile fish production to fish feed factories, from packaging and processing facilities to logistics and exports, Kılıç noted that with a production volume of 70,000 tons in the aquaculture sector, they are among the world’s largest fully integrated facilities. Reminding that they are a world-leading fish producer exporting fish to approximately 70 countries, Kılıç said, “Kılıç Seafood has also always been ahead of its competitors in Türkiye and Europe in the field of technology in aquaculture activities, and has succeeded in implementing firsts with offshore fishing, R&D, quality processes, and environmental sensitivity, thereby pioneering the development of aquaculture in Türkiye.”
Kılıç: “Academia–industry collaboration is important”
Drawing attention to the importance of research and development (R&D) activities and innovation processes, Kılıç said, “We all know that they are an important part of growth, productivity, and competitive advantage all over the world. It is important to ensure that the knowledge acquired at universities is spread across all areas of economic activity. I believe that this process will progress faster and more systematically through university–industry cooperation.”
Emphasizing the contribution this cooperation will make to the development of students, Kılıç stated, “With this protocol between Kılıç Seafood and Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University; the branded courses ‘Kılıç Seafood Preventive Medicine Practices in Fish Diseases,’ ‘Kılıç Seafood Vaccination and Vaccine Technologies in Fish Diseases,’ ‘Kılıç Seafood Innovation Processes and Management in Aquaculture,’ and ‘Kılıç Seafood R&D and UR-GE Technology in Aquaculture’ will be created, and internship opportunities will be provided for students.”
